LivingWood flooring is sawn to size, kiln dried, then machined to final specification. Each piece is tongue & grooved on all four sides.
Strip lengths range from 300mm, rising in 50mm increments to 1100mm, and are available in various widths from 60 to 90 mm in 10, 20 or 23mm thicknesses.
Board lengths
range
from 600mm to 4000mm and are available in a variety of widths from 95 to
220mm.
(see
applications).
Choosing
the right product
What
are the differences between the different timbers in respect of
1:
Durability.
All are hard wearing deciduous hardwoods. Properly installed, all should last for the life of the building.( See species descriptions.)
2:
Colour.
Maple
and chestnut are the lightest, being quite blonde.
3: Width.
Choosing the width of boarding is essentially aesthetic consideration. Some thought should be given to the dimensions of the room, the period of the property and the overall decor of the room. The choice of widths is limited by the thickness of the board (thin overlay strips become unstable if produced in wide widths, therefore are not available).
Chestnut
10mm
strips are available in 60 and 70mm widths and 23mm in 60, 70 and 90mm widths in random lengths from 300 mm.
to 1100 mm. Chestnut
is resistant to woodworm and does not require preventative treatment in dry
applications.
In
kitchens, it should be treated with LivingWood
"WP"
water protector, which seals the grain against mildew.
In bathrooms, it should be treated twice.
Oak
10mm strips are available in 60mm widths and 23mm in 60 or 70mm widths in random lengths from 300 mm. to 1100mm. Oak can be treated with LivingWood "WR" water resistor in similar applications as above, which will also protect against woodworm. LivingWood boards are available in a variety of thicknesses from 18 to 23mm, and widths from 90 to 200mm in lengths from 600mm to 4000mm, either unfinished or pre-finished.
Maple, Walnut, Cherry and Red Oak
LivingWood boards are available in 18mm thickness, and widths from 3 to 5 inches in lengths from 600mm to 2300mm, either unfinished or pre-finished.
